Kotoko have petitioned the Normalisation Committee to allow them play in Africa
Asante Kotoko's management says there is no bad blood between themselves and Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee despite an ongoing tussle over the right to represent the nation in the 2018-19 Caf Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors have petitioned the committee to reconsider its decision to pull the nation out of next year's continental inter-club competitions, insisting "any attempt to prevent Asante Kotoko from participating in the 2018-19 Caf Confederation Cup competition would be a serious breach of the Caf Confederation Cup Regulations and an infringement on the rights of the club".
"Management has noted with great concerns, the emotions being attached to the issue [by] its supporters and sympathizers," a publication on the club's official website read.
"Management wishes to state that it is not in a tussle with the NC and expects its supporters, especially, to approach the issue with all the decorum, tact and diplomacy it deserves.
"Management reminds all that [it] is indispensable in its attempt to get the nod to represent the nation in the competition.
"Management, therefore, appeals to its supporters and well-wishers to remain calm while it awaits response from the NC."
On the back of recent troubles of the local game, the committee and club representatives, on Friday, 'agreed' not to play in Africa in the coming campaign in order to fully focus on rebuilding the sport.
Reigning league champions Aduana Stars and FA Cup holders Kotoko are, however, not in support of the decision, with the latter having lodged a petition.
With this season's Premier League and FA Cup truncated after a June corruption scandal led to suspension of all competitive local football matches and competitions, cup holders Kotoko insist they have the right to represent Ghana in the Confederation Cup as stipulated in Caf's statutes.
Goal understands Medeama, who topped this season's Premier League table at the time of the truncation, are also considering an appeal to be allowed to partake in the Champions League.
