The St. Andrew’s Catholic Clinic at Kordiabe in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region has been upgraded to a hospital to provide advanced services to the people in its catchment area.

The upgrade comes hot on the heels of the construction and commissioning of a 30-bed ward, theater and other ancillary units through a project jointly implemented by Dalex Finance Ltd. and the Christ the King Catholic Church.

Sr. Viji Nedumattathil of the Holy Family Convent Sisters (CHF) who is in charge of the hospital said ‘…the elevation is a reflection of not only the massive improvement in the infrastructure but the quality of services the facility continues to offer to the people.

According to her, the hospital records an average of 60 OPD cases daily and serves other communities including Asutsuare, Doryumu, Jorpanya, Agomeda, Ayikuma, Asebi, and Lawer Kope.

She said they were looking forward to commencing theatre, x-ray, ultrasound and emergency (ambulance) services. The centre presently offers 24-hour Out-Patient and In-Patient services, as well as Dental, Maternity, Laboratory investigations and Pharmacy services.

Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Finance, Mr. Ken Thompson said “…it is refreshing to know that after the construction of a 30-bed ward and theatre for the centre in partnership with the Christ the King Church, the clinic has been upgraded to a hospital. We are happy to have played a key role in the growth of the facility and the provision of quality health services to the people of the area…”.

Officiating a Mass on Tuesday 6th November at the hospital’s premises to mark the official upgrade of the facility, Rev. Father Andrew Campbell, Priest in charge of the Christ the King Parish lauded Archbishop Dominic K. Andoh for mooting the idea to establish a health facility in the area. He was grateful for the opportunity to lead the implementation of the project and positively touch the lives of the people.

He said “…the task has been equally challenging and refreshing. Looking back, I can confidently say we have made a significant progress and that brings me lots of happiness…”.
