In a new year message to Ghanaians, Flagbearer aspirant of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Goosie Tanoh, has sought to demonstrate to Ghanaians what the true essence of an empowered grassroots is.
Calling on Ghanaians to build a community-led model to achieve prosperity with social justice, Goosie Tanoh emphasized the need for hard work and sacrifice.
As an example of how to bring this to life, Goosie Tanoh draws the attention of Ghanaians to the challenges of this season, including road accidents, fire outbreaks and diseases like CSM.
He calls on an empowered grassroots to meet in communities to generate community-led initiatives and put pressure on the authorities whose job it is to address these challenges to rise to their task.
“I call on my comrades in the about 30,000 NDC branches across Ghana to organise to support these community meetings and initiatives and offer leadership where it matters towards a new Ghana - purposeful, united and at peace".

NEW YEAR’S MESSAGE FROM GOOSIE TANOH: LET US RISE TOGETHER IN 2019
I salute the endurance, fortitude, and solidarity that have enabled Ghanaian communities to survive another difficult year in relative peace and integrity. I wish all a peaceful holiday as we prepare to meet the challenges of 2019.
Let us enter 2019 with new resolve. Prosperity with social justice will take hard work and sacrifice. Let us love and strengthen our communities. Let us build accountable institutions that can make us productive and keep our wealth here for the community and national development. And let us build on this community-led model to achieve the Ghana we all want.
We will not achieve success overnight, but we must begin now. Let us immediately begin to meet again as neighbours and communities to meet our common challenges. For a start let us collectively confront the challenges that the Harmattan brings - road accidents, fire outbreaks, and disease.
Let us generate community initiatives. Let us also pressure the relevant authorities - Assemblies, Police Service, Transport associations, Fire Service, Ministry of Health to compel safe road use; to teach, monitor, and enforce rules on safe fire handling; and to provide CSM vaccinations (at least for our children) and educate households on how to avoid infection and report symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting and neck pains immediately to health professionals.
