President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has condemned the murder of Tiger Eye PI’s undercover journalist and investigator, Ahmed Hussein-Suale on Wednesday, 16 January 2019.
“I’ve learnt with sadness of the killing of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an associate of investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. I condemn the act unreservedly, and extent my condolence to his family,” he said in a post on Instagram.
Ahmed Hussein-Suale was shot three times, twice in the chest and another in the neck late Wednesday night at Madina in Accra while driving home by unidentified men riding motorbike.
A section of Ghanaians on social media have called on the police to invite Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, for questioning in connection with the killing.
But, the controversial lawmaker as denied any complicity in the murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale - claiming, “That boy is not relevant in my life. Why would I go and do some stupid thing like that?”
However President Nana Addo has tasked the police to bring the offenders to book for a crime he described as “heinous”.
“I expect the police to bring to book, as soon as possible, the perpetrators of this heinous crime. Once again, my heartfelt condolence," he noted.
Family threatens to react
Relatives of assassinated undercover journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, are demanding justice for their fallen kinsman.
A cousin of the deceased, Abdul Jalil Yakubu says the family is giving the state authorities a week’s ultimatum to produce some credible progress made in the investigation or they will be forced to react.
“What we need is justice but when the justice fails we will react . . . we are fearless, we are Dagombas and we are warriors . . . so we need justice,” he said.
