Genotype and Blood Awareness Foundation International (BGAF), a Non Governmental medical outfit that specializes in sickle cell issues is seeking government and corporate Ghana support.

Since 2009, the sickle cell specialized outfit has embarked on comprehensive research on how to ensure persons with the ailment live well, taking into account how expensive to handle sickle cell-related diseases.

It has emerged through BGAF research that 15,000 children are born with the ailment annually, with 80% cases recorded in West Africa.

"We have done comprehensive research on sickle cell and related diseases to find ways to ensure how persons with the ailment live and live well.

" You know it is very expensive to handle sickle cell and related diseases; the high cost of drugs and all that We have also trained health personnel to offer professional advice to sickle cell patients for a stress-free living.

"We are appealing to government, its agencies and corporate Ghana to partner us make life more comfortable for persons with the ailment," said Mr Isaac Rockson, General Secretary, BGAF.

BGAF and its founding president Dr Brown Osei Konadu have embarked on countless donations, particularly in the rural areas and planning on raising funds for its operations.
