As part of their Help Keep a Child in School Project, GBC Sunrise FM has, in collaboration with Rahmalink Communications, donated newly sewn school uniforms and school bags to some needy pupils in selected basic schools in Koforidua in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The schools are the Nsukwao M/A Basic School, the St. Anne’s Anglican Basic School and the Khalid Ibn Walid Basic School.

An earlier visit to the schools by the Project team revealed that some of the pupils wore tattered uniforms to school while others did not have some at all. There were also those who did not have school bags, as a result of which they resorted to improvised means of conveying their books to and from school.

The visibly happy pupils, looking all resplendent in their new uniforms, expressed their excitement and thankfulness to GBC Sunrise FM and Rahmalinkx for the gesture.

“We thank you very much for giving us school uniforms, may God bless you so that you bring us more again another time” Reginald Mensah, a class four pupil said on behalf of the beneficiaries.

Mr. Nukunu, Head teacher for Nsukwao M/A school, expressed appreciation, assuring that he will see to it that the student take good care of the items and put them to good use.

Madam Comfort Akakpo, a KG1 teacher at the Khalid Ibn Walid Basic School also showered praises on the donors while appealing to other philanthropists to also come to the aid of the pupils to help address their numerous challenges.

The Help Keep a Child in School Project, an initiative of GBC Sunrise FM and Rahmalink Communication is aimed at soliciting both cash and kind donations from well-meaning individuals and organizations in order to reach out to needy children in some of the basic schools within the Municipality.
