Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko George Amoako has rubbished reports that management is set to hold a discussion with coach Charles Akonnor following their exit from the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors were eliminated from the Confederation Cup following a 2-1 defeat to ZESCO United in Ndola on Sunday.
Reports went widespread on Tuesday that management of the Porcupine Warriors are looking to fire coach Akonnor after he was asked to present his report on their campaign.
However, upon the team’s arrival from Zambia at the Kotoko International Airport, Mr. Amoako denied the claim.
“Nobody has said CK Akonnor will be sacked. We should stop all these speculations. Who said he hasn’t done well, forget it. He has done well for bringing the team this far. Just look at where he picked the boys and teams from,” Mr Amoako told Happy FM.
“We were playing against a well matured side at this stage of the competition. We have learnt a lots and CK has done very well with the team.”
Akonnor joined the club on a three-year deal in October last year.
