UNMISS GHANBATT 7 takes over command

Two Battalions of the Ghana Armed Forces GHANBATTs six and seven, in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have handed and taken over their mandates at that theatre, in pursuit of global peace and the well-being of humanity.

The Commanding Officer (CO) of UNMISS GHANBATT 7, Lt Col Antwi Awuah Darkwa, on March 28, took over command from CO of UNMISS GHANBATT 6, Lt Col Albert Sison Ogaja at the GHANBATT Headquarters at Unity State, Bentiu in South Sudan.

In a statement released to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Lt Col AS Ogaja entreated the troops of GHANBATT 7 to rise up to the challenge to achieve and contribute positively to the mandate of the mission.

He expressed gratitude to God for successfully completing his tour of duty.

Lt Col AA Darkwa congratulated and expressed his gratitude to the CO, officers and men of GHANBATT 6 for their commitment to the Mission of the GHANBATT.

He said GHANBATT 7 will continue to ensure that, the flag of Ghana flew aloft.

The Sector North Commander/CONTICO Brig Gen JK Akou-Adjei presided over the occasion.

In a short speech, he advised Officers and men of GHANBATT 7 to open up their hearts and minds and work for success of the Mission.

He urged all to learn and build the requisite professional capacity needed for the future, especially in an international environment.
