A couple have met their untimely death at Assin Andoe Sibo Nkwanta in the Assin South District of the Central Region after being struck dead by thunder while on their farm.
Identified as Emmanuel Botwey 27, and Rita Nketia 26, the deceased persons were reported to have gone to the farm to harvest their farm produce when it started raining heavily accompanied by lightning and thunder and in the process were struck dead.
Mother of the deceased female who confirmed the shocking news on Accra-based Peace FM, revealed that she was called to the scene by some persons who saw them while on their way home after the rain.
Unconfirmed reports are linking some superstitious beliefs to the death of the two suggesting they may have engaged in an act and were cursed or received a stolen item the owner placed a curse on.
Many persons depending on the religious and ethnic backgrounds have different interpretation for thunder strikes but most people associate it with bad omen.
The bodies of the couple have been deposited at a health facility for preservation after traditionalists were called in to perform some rituals in order not to incur the wrath of the gods.
