Asuom Senior High School in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region has launched its golden jubilee celebration.

Speaking at the ceremony, the guest speaker, Eastern Regional Director of Education, Ms Monica Ankrah, observed that there was little doubt about the fact that Ghana’s quest to develop depended on education.

The quality of the human resource of every country, she said, was the most valuable resource to accelerate the development of that country.

Ms Ankrah said in the competitive global world, the educated youth remained the bedrock of a prosperous future of the country.

She, therefore, urged parents and guardians to up their responsibility of providing decent accommodation, a study area or room for the child and provide them with a balanced diet for their proper physical and mental growth.

They should also be involved in the planning the educational programmes or courses their wards and guide them on what they should study in school with the assistance of an educational counsellor.

She called on parents to inculcate good values and sound moral character in their children and have time to listen and discuss with their children, their problems and keep watch on their activities.

Madam Ankrah noted that education fine-tuned students’ creativity, their level of insight and their analytical perspectives to issues and situations.

She said education generally acquaint students with unique ideas and stimulate their curiosity, providing them with opportunities for economic empowerment.

Ms Ankrah urged teachers to be patient, inspire, develop talents, kindle interest and help in moulding the character of the students.

In a speech read on his behalf, the Kwaebibirem Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Antwi Boasiako called for quality education that could empower the people and transform the nation and the communities.”

The Chairperson for the function, Ms Gifty Klenam, former Member of Parliament and an old student, urged the students to study hard and shine in their final examination and in life after leaving school.
