1D1F: President Akufo-Addo to commission Tissue Factory at Nsawam today

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today commission the Brompton Portfolio Limited, a Tissue-Making Factory under the One District One Factory(1D1F) Programme at Nsawam in the Eastern Region, ABC News Ghana can report.

According to information gathered by ABC News Ghana, the project, a joint partnership between the Ghana Prisons Service and the Brompton Portfolio Limited is to serve as a reformation and productive skills development centre for inmates.

The cost of the project is expected to hover around GHS 4 million. The National Investment Bank and GCB Bank are expected to assist with the financing of the project through the facilitation of the One District, One Factory secretariat.

The event is slated for Tuesday, 7th May, 2019 at the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons.

About Brompton Portfolio Limited

Project Background

Brompton Portfolio is a paper products factory located at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region. The Factory manufactures Toilet Rolls, Tissues, Paper Towels and Packaging Products.

The company in collaboration with the Ghana Prisons Service has embarked on “Project Efiase” to provide additional source of income to the Service, improving the conditions of the prison, providing employable skills and income to inmates. The facility also serves as a reformation center.

The company seeks to replicate this project in the remaining regions of the country.

Capacity

The company has acquired modern machinery and equipment with the capacity to produce over 160,000 packs of tissue papers and toilet rolls per month. The toilet rolls and tissue papers are traded under the brand name; SOFTEX. Its products are also suitable for both domestic and industrial purposes.

Funding

The total project cost is estimated at GH¢ 4 million with financing provided by NIB Bank and Ghana Commercial Bank Limited through the facilitation of the One District One Factory(1D1F) Program.

Certification

The company has successfully received certification from Ghana Standards Authority, Environmental Protection Agency and Ghana Free Zones Authority.

Employment

The company has the capacity to provide105 jobs for inmates of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons and 5,500 sales distributors across the country.
