Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister has asked the Muslim community to join the fight against terrorism in the country.
“We must not take things for granted ...we must all contribute in protecting the country and report any suspicious person to the security agencies for action," he said.
Dr. Letsa who was addressing Muslims at Eid-ul- Fitr prayers in Ho also asked landlords to ensure that tenants with foreign nationality had appropriate immigration documents, which allowed them to live in the country.
He said the time to be each other's keeper was now, and called for peaceful coexistence and tolerance among all religious groups for rapid socio-economic development.
The Regional Minister presented bags of rice, cartons of cooking oil and some assorted drinks to the Muslim community.
Alhaji Alfa Anas Amidu, Volta Regional Chief Imam, called on all Muslims to ensure that the principles of peace, unity, tolerance and love, which underpinned the Ramadan permeated through their daily activities.
He cautioned the youth against acts of terrorism and political, religious, ethnic and tribal violence.
The Chief Imam said such acts were inimical to the growth of the nation and could cut short their future.
He said the Qur'an had instructed them to assist people with the fear of Allah not in destruction.
“A true Muslim is someone through whose hand and tongue people are saved and the Qur'an teaches us to help people to be God fearing but not in destruction and chaos," he stated.
The Ho Police Training School Park, which was the ground for the event was jam-packed with both Muslims and non Muslims, with some capitalising on the event to do brisk businesses, especially photography.
