Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company, David Asante, has been named among the Top 50 CEOs in the country today according to a release by Avance Media.

David Asante was named alongside Reggae/Dancehall artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known in showbiz as Stonebwoy, as well as actor John Dumelo.

The Top 50 Young CEOs list is an annual ranking by Avance Media to celebrate and acknowledge young Ghanaian CEOs excelling in various sectors of the economy.

ABC News Ghana can report that the former Convener of the Let My Vote Count Alliance made the cut due to, among others, the tremendous changes he has introduced at the Ghana Publishing Company since his appointment in July 2017.

He has in the past two years managed to digitise majority of the operations of the company while giving it an infrastructural facelift. The company which appeared to be struggling at the time of Mr Asante’s appointment has now gained a life of its own and seems poised to make some tremendous strides in the coming days.

David Asante shot to fame when he and his group(LMVCA) played a key role in ensuring victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 general elections holding several fora to sell the NPP and putting huge pressure on the Electoral Commission for the creation of a new voters register ahead of that election.

Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) became popular after the 2012 general elections when the group protested vehemently after that year’s elections over what the group considered as ‘irregularities and massive cheating’ during the polls.

LMVCA held several demonstrations across the country, the memorable one being the one held in Accra with the intent of mounting pressure on the EC to prepare a new register which saw over thousand people in attendance.

However what promised to be a peaceful event turned violent after the police started firing tear gas at the demonstrators, whipping ‘recalcitrant’ demonstrators which resulted in several sustaining injury with a protester losing one eye.
