Today’s edition of Newsfile will majorly focus on the Ghana-Nigeria relations and issues arising out of that in recent times.

Several sections of Nigerians resident both in Nigeria and in Ghana have protested negative reportage by Ghanaian media which is painting them in the bad light and marring their image on the international front.

The subject majorly came up after a video of a visiting Nigerian Professor popped up in most media outlets.

Whiles registering displeasure at the ‘fate’ of Nigerians in Ghana, he also launched into a tirade against universities in Ghana in general, and the University of Ghana, in particular.

He has since been arrested and sacked subsequently by authorities at the University of Education, Winneba.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian High Commission, the University of Lagos and several Nigerians have reacted to the development, also submitting their grievances and calling for a change on that front.

The increase in electricity tarrifs to 11.17 percent will most likely also feature in today’s discussions on the show.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) approved an 11.17 per cent tariff increase for recovery of total electricity revenue requirement for the regulated electricity market, effective July 1, 2019.

In a statement signed by Mrs Mami Dufie Ofori, the Executive Secretary PURC, said the key objective of the tariff review was to sustain the financial viability of utility service providers as well as ensuring delivery of quality service to consumers.

Other prominent issues which made the headlines during the week will be brought to the fore in today’s discussions.
