Black Stars midfielder Thomas Teye Partey is counting on luck to make progress into the next stage of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt as they gear up to face Guinea Bissau in the final Group F game of the competition, at the Suez Stadium.

He said the Black Stars would need a bit of luck to qualify to the knock-out stages of the ongoing 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), since their last performance was a vast improvement on the previous game.

“We played well against Cameroon, created some descent chances but kissed them. It means with an improved performance in the next gate and a little bit of luck we can make progress,” he said.

According to the Atletico Madrid midfielder, the stars were bent on making it out from Group F into the next round of matches, but it won’t come easy.

In an interview with GNA Sports in Ismailia, Egypt after the Black Stars goalless draw game against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, he said the Stars had a good game and would build on it heading into the last group of matches.

“The team played very well today as compared to the first game against Benin and it was a good sign heading into other games.

“Though the whole team played a good game today, I wasn’t at my best but I had to play at different positions to help the team,” he added.

Cameroon top Group F with four points after two games with the Black Stars and Benin at two points each as Guinea-Bissau is on one point.

Black Stars will take on Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, July 2 at Suez in Egypt as Cameroon take on Benin at Ismailia.
