Policy think tank, Strategic Thinkers Network (STRANEK) has petitioned the Special Prosecutor Mr. Martin Amidu to prosecute 2 former appointees of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority who have been inducted in the Auditor-General’s report.
A letter by the think tank to the Special Prosecutor said, “the names of these two former government appointees are Amoako Twum and Akilu Sajyibu who were the Deputy Chief Executives.”
The letter further said: “According to the report, these two deputies shared GHC 23,562 for clothing allowance and this is yet to be recovered from them.
“In addition, they took away their official laptops which are Apple MacBook Pro Laptops and they have not returned it. It is important to kindly note that, one of the former deputy CEO’s took GHC 54,340 for soft furnishing despite receiving $60,000 as two years rent allowance in May 2017 which according to the report, it is inappropriate.”

PETITION TO PROSECUTE 2 FORMER APPOINTEES OF GEPA
We wish to petition your office with respect to two former government appointees of Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) who have been indicted by the Auditor-General’s Report for still taking clothing allowance six months after they were sacked.
The names of these two former government appointees are Amoako Twum and Akilu Sajyibu who were the Deputy Chief Executives.
According to the report, these two deputies shared GHC 23,562 for clothing allowance and this is yet to be recovered from them.
In addition, they took away their official laptops which are Apple MacBook Pro Laptops and they have not returned it. It is important to kindly note that, one of the former deputy CEO’s took GHC 54,340 for soft furnishing despite receiving $60,000 as two years rent allowance in May 2017 which according to the report, it is inappropriate.
For taking monies to which they were not entitled, it is our considered view that they have acted in a manner that is corrupt. Per the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959), the onus lies on us to petition your office on matters that involve or may involve corruption and corruption related offences hence our petition to your office.
We kindly hope a logical conclusion will be brought on our petition.
