The late Justice Adzakuma was buried today
The late Justice Adzakuma, the 40-year-old man who lost an eye during a Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) demonstration to demand a credible voter roll from the Electoral Commission in September 2015, in the run-up to the 2016 general elections, has been laid to rest at his hometown Tafi Agorme in the Afadzato District of the Volta Region.
Mr Adzakuma, who was visited at the time by the then-presidential candidate of the then-opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo, suffered the loss when the police clashed with the demonstrators.
The one-eyed man died on 12 May 2019 while on admission at the hospital at Malam, Accra.
In a Facebook post, the National Organiser of the NPP, Mr Sammi Awuku, said: “This morning, together with David Asante and the leadership of the LMVCA, regional and constituency executives, we proceeded to bid farewell to our departed brother and colleague, the late Justice Adzakuma”.
Mr Awuku said: “Justice defied all forms of intimidation and brutalities in 2016 to call for a credible voter register and greater transparency in our electoral management system. Unfortunately, in the process, he lost an eye. He stood for principles and fought for his country and generation. May the soul of this great patriot rest in perfect peace”.
