Former Kumasi Asante head coach, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has been voted as the manager of the year at the Ghana Football Awards held today at the Marriott City Hotel.

The former Black Stars captain won the award for his outstanding performance with the Porcupine Warriors during their campaign in the last edition of the CAF Confederations Cup which they managed to reach the group stage even in the absence of the local league.

In addition to that achievement, the former Ashanti Gold gaffer guided Kotoko to lift the tier 1 of the GFA Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition where they beat Karela United in the finals.

Under the year in review, CK Akonnor beat strong opposition from Karela United manager Johnson Smith as well as Black Maidens head coach Evans Adotey.

CK Akonnor has now become the fourth manager of Asante Kotoko to win the award in the last 15 years.
