Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Junior has taken on government over its decision to sack the Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apeatu because his Executive Secretary decided to resign and go into politics by joining the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He described the move by the appointing authority as not right considering the fact that the police administration is still being led by others whose political affiliation is not known.

“He is one of the best we have had in this country’s police history. All that is thrown away and they look at a political event depending on the colour of the administration and we use it to judge”, he revealed on Peace Fm on Wednesday monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

He added “Now he is out together with the Executive Secretary those who command and control the police service do we know their party allegiance? They have but have not displayed it and must not display it as long as they wear the uniform and are in office”

The Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper said using the decision of the Executive Secretary Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo against Mr. David Asante Apeatu is a major source of worry to well-meaning Ghanaians.

“If you will use that against him then it worries me. By implication you are suggesting that everybody you put there is a party person. Subsequent to this it means that anybody we are putting there we should ensure that his party affiliation coincides with the government of the day. You don’t embark on that of kind of exercise in the first place unless you have you have evidence he was behaving unprofessionally and unethically relative to his code of conduct as a police officer”, he stated.
