The National Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has quashed a decision taken by Asante Akim North constituency executives to seclude former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim North the area, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang from party activities.
Ahead of the party’s parliamentary primaries, the constituency executives of the party claimed Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang who is also the Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority is bared from all party activities.
According to a seclusion notice from the party executives in the area signed by the Constituency Secretary, Mr. Aboagye Boateng Williams, they accused the former MP of showing disrespect to the executives.
The decision has since been reversed by the national hierarchy of the NPP in a letter signed by General Secretary, John Boadu sighted by MyNewsGh.com
“Usage of the word “seclusion” meant you sought to suspend the Member [Mr. Kwadwo Baah] from all party activities within the constituency, then you are enjoined to follow the provisions outlined in Article 3(7)(2) of the party constitution”, a letter addressed to the constituency executives signed by NPP General Secretary John Boadu and available to MyNewsGh.com.

Kwadwo Baah Agyemang who has vowed to give the incumbent MP and Deputy Minister of Railway Development, Andy Appiah Kubi a run for his money when the green light is given for NPP party members to contest parliamentary primaries petitioned national executives for redress following his suspension
According to Mr. John Boadu, as per the party’s organization and conduct, the constituency executive committee have every legitimate right and mandate to invite any person who falls within the jurisdiction of the constituency for discussions, enquiries or clarification.
“The party indeed recognizes that the constituency executive committee has that right as can be inferred from the provisions of Article 7(22) of the party constitution, which states in part that
The constituency Executive Committee shall be responsible for overseeing the operations of the party within the constituency”, the NPP General Secretary pointed out.
He however advised them to follow the provisions outlined in Article 3(7)(2) of the party constitution in making such suspensions in the future.
