Forty-five of the Community Day Senior High Schools (E-blocks) built by the Mahama administration have been operationalised so far, Deputy Minister in charge of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Yaw Adutwum has said.

“[With the] E-blocks, the last time I counted, I think we have about close to 45 that have been operationalised”, he told Benjamin Akapko on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Wednesday, 14 August 2019.

“There were some outstanding from the e-blocks that were funded by the World Bank; we are continuing and this year we have operationalised about 22 out of 23.

“So, the e-blocks that were also built in locations where it’s very difficult to operationalise, like the one at Drobonso, we’ve awarded a contract for the construction of dormitory blocks to the e-block so that we can operationalise it; because where it is located, there’s no way you are going to get students to go there, they don’t have enough students in the community and its five miles away from the Drobonso town and we are adding dormitory blocks so that we can operationalise it.

“Our goal is to make sure that every educational infrastructure started by the previous government, we will make an effort to make sure that we will complete so that they will benefit the good people of Ghana whose resources were used in the construction of those facilities”, Dr Adutwum said.
