Two delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been arrested at Fiapre in the Sunyani West constituency of the Bono Region for various offences in the party’s parliamentary primary in the area.
One was picked up for carrying knife on him while the other, said to be under the influence of alcohol, was arrested by the Police team on the ground for ridding unregistered motorbike near the polling station to disturb the electoral process.
The police could not readily give the names of the offenders who have since been placed in custody.
The Sunyani Municipal Commander of Police, DSP Francis Numado confirmed the arrest to 3news.com but said they will be released after the election.
He noted that the Police command deployed 40 uniformed and plain-clothed officers to ensure law and order in the constituency.
Meanwhile, voting has so far been peaceful in the Bono East, Ahafo and Bono regions, our correspondent reported.
