Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, says the Akufo-Addo government has proven all those who doubted their promise to create jobs wrong.
According to him, many critics “brushed off” government’s blueprint for employment and doubted their ability to roll out policies which will enable jobs creation as promised during the 2016 elections campaign.
Mr Baffour Awuah who spoke at the launch of Youth Employment Agency (YEA)’s Job Centre in Accra replied such “faultfinders”, saying, the NPP administration is on course, as it is filling loopholes of inadequate jobs which seeks to alleviate the high level of unemployment among the teeming Ghanaian youth.
“I recall that in the build-up to the 2016 elections, one of the issues that came up was the creation of jobs. That was the subject of the day. President Nana Addo and Bawumia toured up the whole country and promised the people of Ghana that NPP will deliver jobs. When that commitment was made by the NPP many were the doubtful Thomases. They thought it won’t be achieved,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has established a Job Centre and Artisan Directory to connect Entrepreneurs, budding talents, trained artisans and unemployed youth directly to job opportunities.
The Job Centre is a platform (online and physical) which seeks to connect job seekers to employers of all fields within the public and private sectors across the country. It will capture all formal and informal employers as well as graduate and non-graduate job seekers.
