Esther Dey died on August 12, 2019, at the Tema General Hospital.
The Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu’s family has expressed its profound gratitude and appreciation to President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Former President Jerry John Rawlings for their unflinching support during the burial and final funeral rites of their beloved, Esther Dey, which event took place at Hohoe in the Volta Region on Saturday 5th October, 2019.
The Amewu-Duglu and Zu families of Gbi-Bla, Hohoe and the Deh family of Gbi-Kpeme, Hohoe in a statement said: “Mr. President we are touched by your fatherly love. God richly bless you.”
"We are also grateful to His Excellency the former President of the Republic of Ghana, Flt. Lt. (Rtd) Jerry John Rawlings for also finding time off his busy engagements to mourn with us."
The statement further thanked some prominent traditional leaders saying,
“Equal and profound gratitude from the Amewu-Duglu, Zu and Deh Families goes to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for sending a delegation to Hohoe to mourn and assuage our pains in our trying moments. We are deeply grateful to the Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II for equally sending a delegation to Hohoe to mourn and wipe away our tears. Our gratitude and appreciation also goes to Nana Asante Bediatuo in his capacity as a chief for the wonderful display of culture and sympathy shown to our mournful hearts.”
Other distinguished Ghanaians that were also singled-out for praise were the “Speaker of parliament of Ghana, Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye, The chief of staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare and her deputies, the majority and minority leaders of parliament respectively, the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Ministers and deputy Ministers of state, Members of Parliament, CEO’S and Deputy CEO’s and all other high profile leaders of all political parties present and indeed the teeming supporters and activists of the New patriotic party and all other political parties."
The family ended their message by thanking all and sundry for their “contributions, prayers and support in diverse ways in our grieving moment of the loss of our beloved sister, friend, wife and mother, the late Esther Dey. May God Replenish and richly bless you all.”
The late Esther Dey popularly known as Nee Amewu-Duglu, died on August 12, 2019, at the Tema General Hospital.
The deceased left behind her, husband, Venance Dey, and two daughters, Maira Dey and Christable Dey.
