Former Black Stars assistant coach, Maxwell Konadu has refused to rule out a return to Kotoko.

Konadu, head coach of the Black Stars B who recently took the team to the finals of the 2019 WAFU Cup in Senegal before losing on penalties to the hosts, guided the Porcupines to the 2011-2012 Ghana Premier League success.

The former Wa All-Stars trainer took over Kotoko that year [2011] following the sacking of Serbian coach Bogdan Korak but left the following season to join the national under 23, the Black Meteors as an assistant coach to the current coach of the Black Stars Kwesi Appiah.

And with Norwegian gaffer, Kjetil Zachariassen on the verge of losing his job at Asante Kotoko, a return has been mooted for Maxwell Konadu, who himself has refused to rule out such a move but directs his focus on the CHAN qualifier match against Burkina Faso which is slated for October 20 after which the Kotoko issues will be addressed.

“Let’s talk about what is immediately ahead of us for now, as for Kotoko it’s at home so when we come then we talk about home matters”, Maxwell Konadu told the press after the Black Stars B training at the Accra sports stadium on Tuesday.

Without confirming or denying the rumours, Maxwell revealed he has received several calls from the media asking for confirmation of the news linking him to Kotoko but he asked for the focus to be on the WAFU tournament instead, without ruling out anything.

“For now if we shift the attention it will worry a little. It’s like when we were going to play the [WAFU] final I was receiving some calls from Ghana and I told them listen, we have a match to play so let’s finish when we come home then we talk about home matters. For now we have a big task ahead of us which is [the match against] Burkina, they’ve beaten us here two times, we need to also go there and pay them back, so let’s concentrate on that before when we are done with that then anything about Kotoko we can talk about it”, Maxwell directed.
