Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II is pushing for government to decentralize by ensuring that each of the 16 regions in Ghana has at least one ministry.

According to the paramount chief of the Akyem Abuakwa area, it is only when government is able to spread the ministries evenly across the 16 regions that Ghana will develop properly and also boost development.

He noted that it was time for Ghana to revolutionary decentralize.

“What is the Forestry Ministry, for instance, doing in Accra,” he quizzed. “What is the Agriculture Ministry doing in Accra?” He made the call while delivering a lecture at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Hall at the University of Education, Winneba.

The respected chief opined that Ghana’s development agenda is hinged on a thorough decentralisation of power.

“One Region, One Ministry,” he echoed, adding “if we have the courage to do this, our country would be turned around.” Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II stated that, it is the only way people will stay in their towns and work and not troop to the now densely choked capital, Accra.
