GIMPA GRASAG builds ties with GIFEC

The leadership of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)chapter of the Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG), has paid a courtesy call to the management of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC).

The visit was aimed to familiarise with management and create a relevant relationship with the organisation.

The team from GRASAG GIMPA were received by the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of GIFEC, Mr Abraham Osei Asante and the Deputy CEO, Mr Augustine Baffo.

The team from GRASAG GIMPA include President, Mr Raphael Apetorgbor, Gender Commissioner, Mrs Fuseina Issah and Public Relations Officer, Mr Eric Ofosu Asare.

President of GRASAG GIMPA, Mr Raphael Apetorgbor expressed his admiration for the success chalk by the CEO for the deployment of ICT infrastructure to underprivileged and deprived Ghanaian communities which is narrowing the digital gap between urban and rural.

He also applauded GIFEC for its work in winning three awards at the recent Ghana Information Technology & Telecom Awards (GITTA).

Mr Apetorgbor said GIMPA offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the School of Business, School of Law, School of Public Service and Governance, School of Technology, and School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

On his part, Mr Osei Asante GIFEC said the doors of GIFEC was open to GRASAG GIMPA to enable them to engage students with ICT background from the institute as volunteers to help GIFEC achieve its mandate of spreading Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) to various communities across the country.

He highlighted some of the major activities his outfit has been engaged in over the years.

The projects are Rural Technology Project (RTP), Digital for Inclusion (D4I) - Smart Community, School Connectivity and Institutional Support Project, Community ICT Project (CICT) and Satellite Hub Project.

The others are ICT Education, Capacity Building and Awareness, Capacity Building for Informal Sector, Coding for Kids.

He emphasized his outfit commitment to bridge the digital gap.

GIFEC is the implementing Agency under the Ministry of Communications and has over the years facilitated the provision of Universal Access of affordable ICTs to all persons for socio-economic development.
