The Osagyefo Youth Movement (OYM), a civil society organisation, has said no successive government after the Nkrumah-led Convention People’s Party (CPP) government has been able “to create the essentials of healthy, happy, human life” in Ghana.

The group is challenging Ghanaians to ditch the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2020 polls and vote for emerging political parties that focus on the philosophy of Ghana's first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, to liberate the country from its economic woes.

The movement is accusing NPP and NDC governments of not doing much to create sustainable jobs.

According to them, successive governments failed to create an enabling environment, gainful employment and opportunity for the youth to optimise natural resources.

The movement made the comments during a press conference held in Accra on Monday, 2 December 2019.

The President of the group, Omama Amankwah Appiah, further told Class News on the sidelines of the press conference that: “Ever since CPP was overthrown, look around, the policies of the government have not been able to create the essentials of healthy happy human life.

“Do we have work in Ghana? [There are] no jobs, so, how will the people be happy? There’s no health [policy], people are not happy, so, the real human life is being elusive because of lack of work and then happiness in the people,” he added.
