Koforidua, April 6, GNA- The Eastern Regional Controller of the West Africa Examination Council(WAEC), Mr Stanley S. Akuoko has assured candidates registering for the November/December Senior Secondary School Examination that the Council would continue to collect their registration forms after the May 9 deadline until further notice.

Mr Akuoku gave the assurance on Thursday, when he visited the Regional WAEC Registration Centre in Koforidua, appealed to the candidates to stop engaging contractors to do the registration on their behalf.

He said 2,400 manual forms had been sold in the region so far aside of the electronic sales.

Hundreds of anxious candidates besiege the local registration centre every day to beat the deadline leading to long queues and disorderly behaviour.

Candidates outside Koforidua told the Ghana News Agency that they were sleeping in classrooms and other forms of shelter to be able to register.

One Richard Armah from Tema who decided to register in the Region because of the large number of candidates his local Tema Centre, said he had been in Koforidua since last Friday but had not got the chance to register.

The New Juaben Municipal Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, Mr Frank Obeng suggested alternative means to get the candidates to register, preferably at their local centres.
