Mahama visits family of late former Ambassador to Russia

Former President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, 16 December 2019 visited the family of a former Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Seth Koranteng, to express his condolences to the bereaved family.

He also signed a book of condolence opened at his Alajo residence in Accra.

Ambassador Seth Koranteng, who died on 12 December 2019 after a short illness was appointed Ambassador after his retirement from the Ghana Police Service as a Deputy Commissioner of Police. He was also a former Medical Director of the Police Hospital in Accra.

President Mahama in a short remark, recalled his family’s relationship with the late Ambassador, noting that it was a relationship that went beyond politics.

“I will be mourning him as a friend, family and a political comrade,” Mr Mahama said.

Mr Mahama, who is also the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was accompanied by the NDC’s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, a National Vice Chairperson Sherry Ayittey, a former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and other functionaries of the NDC.

Spokesperson for the Koranteng family, Nana Boateng, who is the Kyimdomhene of Obo Kwahu outlined plans for the funeral including a one week celebration to be held in Accra.

Present was the widow, Mrs. Theodora Koranteng who is also known as Naa Dede Fankor III, the Asere Manye of Bukom, Accra.

President Mahama later addressed sympathisers and supporters of the NDC who beseeched the residence of the late ambassador. He urged them to work hard to wrestle power from the NPP.
