Winneba (C/R) May 22 GNA- The Deputy Minister for Private Sector Development, Mr Moses Dani-Baah has appealed to Ghanaians to go beyond partisan politics and unite to develop the country.
Mr Dani-Baah who is also the MP for Sisalla East Constituency said the divisive nature of the 2004 General Election should not continue to undermine the forward march towards national reconstruction. He made the appeal during an annual get-together of the University of Education Winneba (UEW) branch of the National Union of Sisalla Students (NUSS) Union at Winneba.
Members of the Union use the occasion to take stock of the past and plan towards development efforts at home.
The Minister commended NUSS for facilitating general development at home and in helping to increase the number of Sissalas in tertiary schools from 30 in 1992 to over 200 currently. Mr Dani-Baah urged the members to accept postings to rural communities in the Sisalla District to help raise the standard of education.
Mr Haruna Bayirgah, MP for Sisalla West, urged members of the union to educate their parents to save with the banks to enable them get access to credit facilities to expand their income generating projects. Madam Katie Anda, a lecturer at the Home Economic Department of the UEW, urged the students to aim high and take their studies seriously to enable them achieve their career ambitions. The President of the Union, Mr Saila Issahaku said members were contributing towards the general development of the traditional area. Alhaji Ishaq Asuru, Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Coordinating Director, who chaired the function urged members to be role models at home.
