Police personnel of the Akuse Police Command in the eastern region will have a fulfilling festive season, thanks to the show of benevolence by the renowned Chief of Suisi Okuenya and Adadlikworsi, Kodjonya.

The chief, Nene Olepeme Sackinor Nanor I on Tuesday, 24 December 2019, donated assorted items to personnel of the Akuse Police command as show of his love and support towards the Ghana Police Service.

The items including 32 bags of rice, 36 bottles of cooking oil and 16 packs of drinks, were handed over to personnel of the Police Service by the chief at a short presentation ceremony at the Akuse Police station.

Nene said the donation underpins his stool’s commitment to contributing its quota to peace and development in the area and called on all stakeholders to support the Ghana Police Service in effectively discharging its duty of maintaining peace and security.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Ghana Police Service in maintaining peace and order in its operational areas through its Asutuare, Kpong, Nuaso and Akuse stations and was hopeful that the items would go a long way to contribute to the Christmas celebrations of the police.

Nene Olepeme Sackinor Nanor I aside his vision to partner and support the Ghana Police Service to equip them to be able to serve the citizenry well called for cordial relations between the police and their communities of operations including various leaders and institutions to ensure peaceful co-existence, adding that ,”We need to support each other at all times.”

He said appreciating the good works of the police should encourage society to know the challenges faced by the service to support it as the police remained friends with the public at all times and that supporting the police and not only relying on government to do so will enhance its professional output.

He however called on the police not to always resort to sending cases to court but pursue alternative dispute resolutions to petty cases to avoid overloading the courts with numerous cases.

A ‘shocked’ Superintendent Winfred Asare Nyarko who received the items on behalf of the command described the gesture as ‘unprecedented’ at the Command and expressed his profound gratitude to the revered chief.

He commended the chief for supporting the Ghana Police Service and urged other philanthropists to support the service in diverse ways as the chief’s support to the police service demonstrated his interest in the general well-being of the police.

The chief has undertaken similar acts of philanthropy including bringing the joy of Easter to orphans at the Nector foundation at Nuaso and rewarding outstanding members of society with fridges and flat screen TVs.

He reiterated that the relationship between the police and civilians is that of friendship and urged the public to appreciate the work done by the police in ensuring peace and security.

Present at the brief presentation ceremony were linguists and Sipims of the chief and personnel of the Akuse Police station.
