The South African minister of intelligence, Ronnie Kasrils, is expected to arrive in Accra on Monday [6 June] for a two-day visit. While in the country the minister will pay a courtesy call on President [John Agyekum] Kufuor and hold talks with the heads of the security and intelligence communities. He will also interact with the ministers of interior and foreign affairs.

Mr Kasril's visit will give him the opportunity to explore common issues of interest which include the situations in Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Great Lakes Region.

The issue of small arms, mercenaries as well as creation of a conducive climate for the two countries to enjoy a better life in peace and stability will also be on the minister's agenda.

The visit is in line with the South African government's mission to tighten intelligence partnership and thereby contribute to a greater security and stability on the African continent.
