Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwasi Pratt Jnr. has questioned government's rationale behind the introduction of new cedi denominations.
The Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr.Ernest Addison on November 29, 2019 announced the introduction of ¢100, ¢200 notes and a 2 cedi coin to the country’s current denomination.
Kwesi Pratt, while commenting on the subject during a public forum on the proposed new voter's register said he sees no sense in printing new monies when there would be an eventual introduction of another currency.
''What is the sense in printing more currencies when you are going to throw it away?'' Kwasi Pratt asked .
Adding, "I heard that we are not going to use the cedi anymore but we will use something called ECO."
Mr Pratt furthered that "it was this same nonsensical attitude that was going to be introduced into the New Voter's Register."
