Boabeng-Fiema (B/A), Aug 25, GNA -- The United States government is assisting the Peace Corps of Ghana to put up a tourist information centre at Boabeng-Fiema to promote tourist attraction to the Monkey Sanctuary in the area.
The Assemblyman for the area, Mr Edward Opoku, told the Ghana News Agency at Boabeng that the project is estimated to cost about 15 million cedis.
The centre will be stocked with relevant records on tourism as well as the history of the Sanctuary to provide tourists with accurate information. An American Peace Corps, Miss Audrey Huffman, who is supervising the project, has urged the Nkoranza District Assembly to have the area connected to the national electricity grid.
Miss Huffman, known to the community as Miss Adwoa Asantewaa, has appealed for a community clinic to cater for the local people as well as tourists to the area.
She urged the District Assembly to assist the people to construct culverts to stop erosion of streets in the communities and to enable buildings in the area to last a little longer.
