Danquah Institute founder Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko says he wonders what the message of the flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama will be ahead of the December polls since his cousin President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government has performed better in all areas of governance in the country.
“I wonder what John Mahama’s campaign message will be in 2020. On the economy: Akufo-Addo has done better. On health: Akufo-Addo has done better. On education: Akufo-Addo has done better. On infrastructure, Akufo-Addo is doing much better. 5 major interchanges being built all at the same time; never in our history. With this Government, Ghanaians can see where their money is going. Follow the facts. Not the propaganda.”, Mr Otchere-Darko said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, the NDC has set up a 21-member election manifesto committee chaired by a former Minister of Health under the Mills-led administration, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo to tour all the 16 regions of the country in an attempt to solicit the views and concerns of the ordinary Ghanaian regarding how they would want the party to govern them.
Even before the committee completes its work, Mr Mahama has promised to roll out a national apprenticeship programme targeting some 200,000 out of school youth interested in acquiring diverse skills and vocations to be competitive in the current job market if elected president again.
He has also promised to reduce the number of ministers and ministries as part of measures to reduce the public purse, abolish the double-track system in second cycle schools, build new E-Blocks in dense urban areas, scrap the teacher licensure exams, abolish the requirement for graduates of Colleges of Education to undertake compulsory national service and re-introduce the automatic posting of teachers.
He has further pledged to bridge the gap between Article 71 office holders and other categories of public sector workers.
