The quiet and serene atmosphere, which had for a long time been associated with Mpraeso in the Kwahu South District, was on June 27 this year broken when word suddenly went round that a prominent farmer of the twon had been grabbed for possessing a human head and some skeletons.
To satisfy their curiosity, hundreds of the residents thronged the local Police Station where the 56-year-old farmer, Samuel Antwi was being held, to catch a glimpse of the human parts and their owner. At the time of filing this report, Antwi had been arraigned before the Mpraeso Circuit Court and remanded in custody, to enable the Police conduct further investigations into the case.
On the prowl, newsmen learnt that Antwi's alleged nefarious activities came to light when a co-tenant was to embark on a journey. He was looking for some empty boxes he had kept in one of the rooms when he spotted an unknown suitcase.
Something about the bag aroused his curiosity, so he unzipped it to see its contents. What he saw sent him shivering like a leaf - a human skull and skeletons each wrapped in a separate black polythene bag.
Shocked at the unbelievable scene, the co-tenant rushed to make a complaint about his discovery to the Police. During investigations, Antwi was identified as the owner of the suitcase and arrested. In the interrogations that followed, Antwi reportedly admitted ownership of the bag but said it was given to him by one Boateng. According to the Mpraeso-Kwuhu District Police Commander, his outfit had embarked upon an intensive search to arrest Antwi's accomplices believed to be hiding around Wassa-Akropong.
Investigations further revealed that the human parts were to be sold to a popular juju man of the twon at the cost of ?18million. The said juju man is alleged to have left the town immediately Antwi was busted.
