Some members of Volta Region's rapid response team for COVID-19 are reportedly undergoing training at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) center in University of Ghana for first-hand training on how to handle the covid-19 samples and general cases of the pandemic in the region.

Members of the team who are medical doctors, according to the regional minister, Dr. Archibald Yaw Letsa will after receiving the training in Accra will return to the region to also train other health professionals in the region on how to deal with the deadly coronavirus, which per WestAfrica24.com has claimed the life of a female Burkinabe lawmaker few hours ago.

In a meeting organized by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council where the regional minister, health administrators and the heads of state institutions and agencies in the region met to deliberate on the region's preparedness towards the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Kwesi Dzokoto, a member of the 'Regional Public Health Team on COVID-19', briefed the meeting attendees on the origin and possible causes of the virus and how it could be effectively prevented.

The regional minister concluded the meeting by commending the health institutions in the region for their collaborative efforts towards ensuring that the region is battle-ready for the coronavirus.

Volta Region has so far seen two teams ready to tackle the covid-19 pandemic.
