Farmer charged with stealing

Accra, Nov. 16, GNA - Emmanuel Tetteh Nettey, a farmer, who allegedly failed to pay for two vehicles be bought from a trader has appeared before an Accra tribunal charged with stealing.

Nettey, who allegedly bought the two vehicles valued at 26 million cedis from Mr Stephen Kunansi, pleaded not guilty.

He was granted 15 million cedis bail with one surety to be justified to re-appear on December nine.

Police Inspector Emmanuel Tawiah Boison told the tribunal chaired by Mr Charles Nyewolema that in March, last year, Mr Kunansi's brother, who is based in South Korea, sent three vehicles to him to sell.

Inspector Boison said Nettey approached the complainant and expressed the desire to purchase all the three vehicles and paid 15 million cedis for one of them.

He then managed to convince Mr Kunansi to release the other two vehicles with thei /r documents to him.

The prosecutor said after receiving the vehicles, Nettey failed to make payment as he promised and went into hiding.

While the Police were hunting for him, Nettey's mother, who accepted responsibility to make full payment to Mr Kunansi paid only 1.3 million cedis.
