I’m Dauda Ali Ayamba from Central University and a Level 400 Communication Studies student.

I am also the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Central University Students Parliament House.

I know a lot of people in the final year are sceptical about what the future holds for them.

It is quite disheartening to spend all this time in school and just when you are at the finish line, tragedy strikes.

At this point, if it was within our control we would have some hope and know that this will pass but this pandemic unfortunately for us is a global one and the Presidents directive to shut down schools has definitely thrown a lot of students in a state of confusion.

On one hand, you are worried about getting infected and on the other hand you are wondering if you are going to finish school as planned.

I have decided to focus on the plans I made because I believe we will get through this. My plan is to stay focused on my academics despite the scare of the pandemic.

How do I plan to do that?

I use my time judiciously as I have quarantined myself in my room, by coordinating with my Project work partner to ensure we share ideas via WhatsApp.

I read my lecture notes alongside working on my project work so as not to miss my target when we are finally asked to return to school after the situation of the COVID-19 is minimized or kept under control.

What keeps me moving with plans is my dream for a better future, and that cannot be compromised by anything so far as there is life.
