The Coronavirus which first erupted in China, in December 2019, has spread widely around the world and many people including Ghanaians are feeling the pain, anxiety, hatred, and the hardship that comes with the deadly virus.

Face it! Every wheeze and cough performed by an individual in public seems to attract glances and odd looks. Many have described the disease as an ‘unwelcomed’ guest which has robbed them of their freedom, livelihood, and peace of mind.

Hence GhanaWeb, reflecting on how this pandemic has awakened the apprehension of Ghanaians, visited Madina, a suburb of Accra, to find out from citizens their reasons for detesting the pandemic.

“One thing I hate about this virus is that; it’s preventing us from praying in larger congregation, performing Ramadan which demands we pray in our numbers yet we can’t do so now which makes me hate this virus so much,” a pedestrian said.

Another added that; “I operate a washing bay and as we speak now cars are no longer trooping in to my place like before, we are not making in the required revenue and that is collapsing our business thus making us hate this virus.”

However a trader bemoaned how a friend of his nearly lost his life as a result of hunger during the lockdown period.

“Believe me! I truly hate this coronavirus, if I have the opportunity to meet it one on one I will kill it without regret. How can it cause us to suffer in this manner, we barely make money these days talk less of eating to our satisfaction and that nearly killed a friend of mine during the lockdown. I hate this virus!”

Meanwhile, ninety-five more people recently contracted the Novel Coronavirus, sending Ghana’s total recorded cases from 2,074 to 2,169.

Regions with a rise in cases include the Greater Accra which has seen an increase of 57 cases raising its tally to 1,852.

The Ashanti Region’s case count is now 117 with Eastern Region recording 17 new cases sending its total to 87 and the Western North Region which now has 4 cases.
