Legendary striker, Asamoah Gyan says his inability to win the AFCON trophy with the senior national team haunts him.
Gyan was part of the Black Stars team that plated in the 2010 and 2015 finals against Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.
It has been 39 years since the country lifted Africa's prestigious tournament.
According to Gyan, he is still worried about not being able to win the Africa Cup of Nations but beleives the next generation will be capable of winning it.
“Personally, I thought winning the African Cup of Nations was possible, but since I joined the Black Stars in 2003 we have come close a couple of times without being able to win so it worries me still,” Gyan told Adom TV in an interview.
“But we still hope that it’ll happen. Even if we are unable to win it, I pray the generation that comes after us will be able to win it,” the lethal striker added.
Asamoah Gyan has played in seven Afcon since 2008 but hasn’t been able to win the trophy despite being un the final twice and a three times bronze medalist.
