David Mawutor, a Ghanaian footballer with the Tajikistani football Club, has called on Ghanaians to observe all the safety protocols to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
He said the disease was real and that the mandatory wearing of face masks would help prevent potential carriers of the virus from discharging mucous, saliva and other fluids that could suspend in the air or end up on surfaces and serve as avenues for the spread of the virus.
Mr Mawutor made the call through his senior brother, Pastor Abraham Gordon, who presented food items to the Osu Children’s Home in Accra on his behalf.
The items included bags of maize, gari, rice, beans, sachet water, detergents and baby diapers.
He said the donation formed part of his efforts to support the less-privileged and vulnerable children in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Mawutor thanked Sam 1 Company Limited for supporting him with the donation and expressed the hope that it would help alleviate the hardships of the Home.
He called on other Ghanaian foreign-based footballers to donate towards the development of country.
Madam Sheila Dagbale, a Social Worker, who received the items on behalf of the Home, commended the footballer for his generosity and called on corporate bodies, individuals and institutions to go to their aid.
