Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association, Frederick Acheampong ‘Achie’ says proper structures is all Kotoko need to able to reclaim their old glory.

His comment comes following the announcement of a new Board of Directors for the club.

On Thursday, Manhyia announced a nine member Board of Directors with Dr. Kwame Kyei maintaining his position at the club to steer the affairs of the Porcupine Warriors.

The board constituted include top corporate gurus and sports brains but the former Chief Executive Officer of Ashantigold believes the board cannot be successful should they refuse to put proper structures in place under their tenure.

“For the past three years Kotoko do not have a single structure but Kwame Kyei was appointed at the time to build structures and form a board but none of them came to reality. People were just appointed to managerial roles”

“If the structures were there during Kwame Kyei’s three years mandate appointment could have been on merit. I remember they appointed Dr Amo Sarpong as policy analyst for the club but I didn’t know the kind of policy he was analyzing. So if indeed there were structures the club would have replaced him at the time they sacked him. It means it was just created for it to function”

“Along the line they had a special assistant to the Executive Chairman in the person of Nana Gyambibi but they changed his position to become General Manager even when they had CEO”

“I think lack of proper structures has jeopardized Kotoko. Going forward the basic thing the club should do is to put proper structures in place. When the structures work, as big as Asante Kotoko is, they will be able to develop their training complex, build a youth team to supply the senior side with quality” he told Happy FM in an interview.
