Former Ghana and Leeds United striker Tony Yeboah hints he was left disappointed after failing to realise his dream of playing at Manchester United.

Yeboah joined Leeds United from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported £3.4 million in January 1995 after his move to the German giants fell through.

He quickly established himself as a deadly striker for Frankfurt and became the first African Bundesliga club captain. He was the top Bundesliga scorer twice with Eintracht, in 1993 and 1994.

"Normally I should have gone to Bayern Munich but Frankfurt would not allow because the fans would kill them so they said no: we are not allowing you to go even though Bayern was 100% interested," Yeboah told GTV Sports Plus in an interview.

"I didn’t know Leeds but when the offer came I said why not? Then I had a problem with the coach at Frankfurt so I decided I want to play football, I want my peace."
