Ghanaian defender Enock Kwateng carved a niche for himself as Girondins de Bordeaux 'good luck' player during the 2019/20 French Ligue season.

Kwateng joined the Navy Blue outfit as a free agent last summer after turning down contract extension proposal from FC Nantes.

The 23-year-old was an undisputed starter for Paulo Sousa's men until he was given a breather in January, 2020, following the death of his brother, Jackson.

It has now emerged that the French-born right-back was the player who provided 'good luck' to the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux side in the 14 matches he played before the campaign was truncated.

In the fourteen Ligue 1 games in which Kwateng featured, Bordeaux lost just two, winning eight and drawing four.

In the ranking of players that gave "good luck” to their teams in accounting terms by their presence on the pitch, Kwateng churned out 1.07 points, which was only bettered by Angers SCO forward Antonin Bobichon who led the pack with 1.49 points.

The French Ligue 1 was the only Europe’s top five leagues to be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

PSG were named champions as they were sitting atop of the standings with a 12-point lead and a game in hand over second-place Olympique Marseille.

Girondins de Bordeaux finished the campaign in 12th place with 37 points.
