Head Coach of Ghana’s Black Queens Mercy Tagoe says female footballers will need more time to reach the required playing levels should football be given to green light to resume.

Since March 2020, the Ghana football season has been temporarily halted due to the Corona Virus pandemic.

The COVID-19 situation has led to teams breaking camps and players only getting to train on their own amid fears fitness and endurance levels will drop.

As the football fraternity anticipate the easing of government imposed restrictions on July 31 to pave way for the game to resume, Coaches have been sharing how long it will take for players to get back to required fitness levels.

According to Marcy Tagoe, Female footballers will need more time unlike their male counterparts.

She told GTV Sports+ in an interview, “Unfortunately women are not like men. Our physiological makeup is different from that of men so I will prefer 8 weeks so that we can catch up with certain aspects of our technical training.

Tagoe has outlined what is been done presently to avert playing getting out of shape totally.

“What we are doing is endurance work; I want them to condition themselves so that when we come together as a team, I will prefer 7-8 so that we can catch up with every aspect of our training,” she noted.
