The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamh on Wednesday invited the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku to discuss the fate of the football season.

The 2019/2020 Ghanaian football season has been put on hold for the last 3 months as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis which has hit the entire world.

Yesterday, Kurt Okraku had discussions with Hon. Isaac Asiamah with the Sports Minister updating the GFA boss on the stimulus package they are seeking from the government.

Though the Ministry is yet to make strides in that end, the sector minister was particular about the way forward for the suspended football season.

According to Kofi Asare Brako who speaks for the Sports Minister, Kurt Okraku has been tasked to put measures in place just in case the season is to be continued.

“It is very true. Yesterday Hon. Isaac Asiamah met with Kurt to give him an update on the stimulus package as well as other recent matters.

“They also had discussions on Ghana Football to see whether the league can be continued or there is the need to cancel”

“Kurt as the Ghana FA president has been tasked to put measures in place that will make it possible for football to continue if that is the option is to be taken. If it is not possible too then we make an official announcement that this season’s league has been canceled", Kofi Asare Brako said in an interview with Nhyira FM.

Kurt Okraku has also assured that the country’s football governing body will make a decision on the fate of the football season at the end of June.
