The donation forms part of the annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by the two companies
e.TV Ghana in collaboration with Japan Motors has donated 120 shirts worth over GHc 3,000 to the Ghana Blind Union.
The generous act by the two entities, is part of their annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that has been carried out for the past 8years.
This was in fulfilment of a commitment by e. TV Ghana and Japan Motors to commit a percentage of proceeds from the 2018 e. TV Ghana, Japan Motors Corporate Run to support the blind.
Speaking during the presentation, Nosisa Doe, Programs Manager for e. TV Ghana said e. TV Ghana and Japan Motors are always committed to supporting the Ghana Blind Union through Corporate Run –a relationship that has been going on for the past 8years-.
“We have partnered the Ghana Blind Union for the past 8years ensuring that a percentage of the monies that comes for the registration fee of the runners is donated to you. It is an honour and privilege for us to associate with you. We are grateful for the opportunity and we hope that other corporate entities in Ghana also see the need for inclusion and equality and the fact that it is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility and also start adding value to the Ghana Blind Union,” she said.
Receiving the Shirts, Dr. Peter Obeng Asamoah, Executive Director of the Ghana Blind Union commended e. TV Ghana and Japan Motors for the kind gesture and urged other corporate organizations to emulate the gesture.
“The Ghana Blind Union as a body, we are very excited to be associated with e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors in the event of their Corporate Run. We must say that this tradition started over 8years ago and it has been consistent.
Constituently Japan Motors and e. TV always think about including Ghana Blind Union in this social activities. We are hoping that other organizations will take a cue from this and emulate this move.
We stand for inclusion and we stand for equal opportunity and we are proud to say that Japan Motors and e.TV have recognized this fact,” Dr. Asamoah stated.
He added “every year, e. TV Ghana and Japan Motors present a donations to us every year. Sometimes it is white canes but this time they are giving us T-Shirts and we are really grateful for this and pray that our partnership and our relationship will continue to strengthen and other corporate bodies will also learn from this situation and also open up their doors so that we can have more equal opportunities and more rounds of just having good relationship and taking part in what everybody else does.”
However on her part, Marketing Manager of Japan Motors Trading Company, Harriet Esi Mensah hinted that in 2019, there will be a 40percent increase of the deduction from each registration.
“Hopefully next year we are looking at increasing the percentage that we deduct from the registration fee of each runner to about 40percent. Instead of GHS 5, we will do GHS 7 per runner. Next year God willing, we can do better than we have done, “she added.
