100 to vie for GCB Golf trophy

Accra, Nov.15, GNA - All is set for this year's Ghana Commercial Bank Limited Golf Championship scheduled for the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, November 19.

Mr Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said more than 100 amateur golfers from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity and Bok Nam Kim Golf clubs are expected to participate in the One-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition. He said the competition, which would be played under the rules of the World's Golf Governing body and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club, has Handicap 18 for the Men and Handicap 24 for the Ladies as the entry requirements.

A visit to the Achimota Golf Course by the GNA Sports on Tuesday, indicated saw most of the golfers busily sharpening their strokes and drives in anticipation of winning the magnificent trophy which has been donated by the Bank.

Among an array of golfers who would be seen in action on Saturday include 14-year-old Nicolo Catto, veteran John Sam, Michael Aggrey, K.K. Pumpuni and Lee Mensah who have all promised to carry the day. The Ladies section would also see the newly crowned Ghana Ladies Golf Union (GLGU) champion, Grace Afriyie battling good old Mona Captan, Florence Etwi-Barimah and Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong for supremacy. Mr Lawrence Adu Mante, Managing Director of GCB will present the trophy to the winners.
